In the recent years, Project-based Learning has been appreciated by its researchers and practitioners. In the context of social development, education and new curriculum reform, strengthening the research and application of Project-based Learning in Geography curriculum has been a perfect way to improve teacher’s educating and teaching, to increase students’ knowledge and the skills and to promote the comprehensive human development.This thesis proposes the importance of strengthening the Project to study the research and application in geography teaching in middle schools in the term of the requirements of social change, educational change, the new curriculum reform and the fact of students with less life experience. And then it introduces the Project’s definition, process and basic theoretical sources, summarizes the applications of the Projects home and abroad and elaborates this new model of teaching and learning in the way of analyzing the documents.The study fully shows the advantages of implementing the new mode in secondary schools’geographies by designing the items, investigating three Project cases and tracking students’ changes. Finally, it objectively sums up the secondary school geography projects’ implementation under the new curriculum, points out the problems in practice and proposes some recommendations about the application in the future.
