Since the21st century, our country has been carrying out a series of reformsconcerning Chinese teaching in middle schools under the direction of the newcurriculum criterion. No matter which teaching modes we choose, there is no doubtthat its core is to advocate quality-oriented education and that its aim is to develop thestudents’ abilities. In this century the talents needs to have various abilities, such ascreativity, imagination, management, sociability, artistic ability and learning ability,etc. However, the cultivation of these abilities is quite inadequate during the Chineselessons, restricted by some subjective and objective factors. Therefore, we shouldexpend our Chinese lessons, for example, organize the literary societies. The literarysocieties, the second classroom of Chinese lessons, have played a significant role inthe development of contemporary literature in our country. It has become vibrantagain in the context of the current reforms of Chinese teaching. The activities of theliterary societies, an extension of the Chinese lessons, mainly embody theachievements of the further development of the teaching reforms. In addition,different from the Chinese classrooms, the activities emphasize the spirit ofindependence and stress the consciousness of innovation.In order to deepen the Chinese teaching reforms, it is necessary to furtherresearch the value and functions of the activities of the literary societies and drawsome practical experience, which help organize and carry out its activities efficiently.The author tries to combine the activities of the literary societies with the Chineseteaching in middle school. This article will not only illustrate the author’s deeperthinking theoretically and practically, but also establish a mature and feasible modefor the activities of the literary societies to enrich the Chinese teaching research inmiddle school. As the instructor for years, I will sum up the practical experiences toprovide some ideas in this aspect and contribute my effort to the Chinese teachingreforms.
