| The national Ministry of Education has published and implemented The Full-time Compulsory Education in Ordinary Senior High School English Curriculum Standards (experimental manuscript)(short title of the standard) in2003. It has put forward clear guidance and advice for high school English teaching. In2005, Advance with English by Yilin Press was positioned as unified teaching material for Jiangsu Province. This version was edited by both Chinese and foreign professors. Constantly updating teaching materials’version, teachers and students have to face the pressure of adapting to teaching materials.In this thesis, the author tried to figure out how teachers deal with Word power section after several years’practicing. First of all, according to the relevant language theory and teaching material analysis and evaluation, the author will do the research of text analysis, then through the questionnaire and interviews, classroom observations, and other means to investigate teachers and students. The questionnaire aims to answer the following questions:(1)Whether teachers understand Word power section design intent?(2) What are teachers and students’ attitude to the section’s teaching contents?(3) What are teachers’ teaching strategies and teaching auxiliary equipment?(4)How is the actual teaching effect?(5) What are teachers problems existing in the teaching of the section?The whole thesis consists of five parts. The first part is the introduction, mainly explaining the research background, purpose and significance, research content and method, and defining related concepts. The second part is the theoretical foundation of this thesis, and summarizing the relevant foreign and domestic research. The third part explains survey design and implementation of Word power section, mainly using the questionnaire and interviews and classroom observation ways. The fourth part aims to analysis the existing problems in Word power section teaching through the survey results. The fifth part is to put forward corresponding Suggestions according to research result, which is in order to promote better Word power section teaching. |
