The development of social economy promotes the cooperation andcommunication of different places. Hence, a series of changes have happened to thestructure of the source of students in modern high schools: the pattern has beenestablished from the previous single one-district source to the mixed source of manydistricts and other provinces and cities. Free from parents’ control and constraint andwithout the care of families and friends, the senior high school students who seekeducation far from their hometown often feel lonely and confused. They often have nostudy plans, live an irregular life and miss the past good old days. Therefore, they find ithard to get used to the new environment. So how to cultivate and build theirself-management ability has become a new issue in front of all the educational workers. After I look through the documents from home and abroad, I find there are fewresearches into this aspect. This essay will take Luzhou High School as an example.Based on the survey and analysis of the self-management of the senior high schoolstudents who seek education far from their hometown, I am trying to find the ways todevelop their self-management ability. I made a questionnaire from three aspects: theschool’s management, the family education and personal reasons such as their study, their life, their discipline and their interpersonal relationship in the school and providedit to300students of this group (100per grade). At the same time, I manage to find outthe problems that exist in their self-management through interviewing the school’sleaders, teachers, and their parents and doing a long-term research into an individualcase. According to this survey and the research, the lack of self-management of these students owes to the following reasons: the management of school education still stopsat the stage of defence but not “attack”; some teachers’ teaching concepts are out of date;some parents’ are unconscious about their children’s self-management and theirteaching methods are always single. Therefore, this survey is to come up with severalsolutions to how to cultivate the self-management of the senior high school studentswho seek education far from their hometown: as for schools, the first one is tostrengthen the humanistic care of these students and establish and improve themechanism of mental health counseling; the second one is to carry out rich and colorfuland mare targeted activities based on the school Communist Youth League; the third isto build a platform and establish an education mechanism of diversification; the forthone is to set examples to student from whom students can learn; the fifth one is tochange some teachers’ concepts and establish an effective evaluation mechanism. As forthe family, first, it is necessary to change some outdated ideas and develop theawareness of cultivating the students self-self-management ability; second, change theway, using the diversification of educational model.Only when these students have certain self-management ability can their parentsfeel relieved with their life in the school and can they get ready for their futuredevelopment.
