Education in the new period shall gear towards modernization,accordingly,high school geography pay more attention to the cultivation of geographical analysis ability.Ability rather than pure knowledge is emphasized in our exam,that's to say,the ability to apply knowledge in problem analysis is what matters,but not the crammed knowledge students remembered.New curriculum pays more attention to students' analyzing ability,which shows the overall geography quality of learners.To put it in a simple way,overall geography analyzing ability includes many perspectives,for instance,the ability of associating all disciplines with geography so that learners can view things from a comprehensive perspective;it also covers the ability of solving problems.Besides,the ability to interpret geographical charts correctly,the ability to extract and analyze useful geographic information,the ability of integrating geographic knowledge,the ability of drawing geographic map and interpreting them with proper geographic language are the issues discussed in the current paper.The current essay made a comparison of the related researches at home and abroad.On the basis of a wide research,some demerits in the cultivating of the five abilities mentioned above are analyzed.Targeting at the existing problems,the current thesis give out some revision on the existing problems based on constructivist learning theory and discovery teaching theory as well as real geography class.At the same time,a case study which designed with the assist of modern teaching method,the effect of atmospheric pressure and wind on the climate,was used to give an example to teachers in fostering the overall geography analyzing ability.The current thesis was divided into six parts.The first chapter introduced the research background of this study and some research status quo of the related studies both at home and abroad.Based on these introductions,the footing of this thesis was discussed.The second chapter covered related research concepts and their details.Besides,the theoretical basis of this study was also discussed.The third chapter mainly introduced the survey results and the analysis of the results.What's more,some conclusions were made on the existing problems as well as the reasons that contributed to them.The fourth chapter put forward some substantial strategies on solving the existing problems in the process of fostering of overall geography analyzing ability.The fifth chapter made an example to the cultivation of learner 's overall geography analyzing ability by using the effect of atmospheric pressure and wind on the climate,which was designed towards the cultivation of learners' overall geography quality.The sixth chapter acts as a conclusion for the whole thesis,at the same time,some possible revisions of the current thesis were given for future studies.
