Since reform and opening up, the traditional rural society of China experienced an unprecedented change which appeared as the rapid development of the rural economy, the remarked improvement of farmers living standards and the increasingly open ideas. In a word, great changes have taken place in traditional customs. As an important part of the beginning of marriage, the marriage payments have been changing all the time, which can be understood as the miniature of the rural social changes and development. With the frequent rural social mobility and the improved education standard in rural society, the original way of life which is relatively closed for rural people changed, at meanwhile, marriage customs and ideas has been updated. Therefore, this study tries to research the changes of rural marriage payment since1980from the perspective of sociological gender perspective under the background of the social transformation. Writer use field research, interview and questionnaire approaches to describe and analyze the changes of rural marriage payment, and thus to investigate the changes of the traditional social system of sex, family relationship and the concept of power between men and women for thirty years. The results of the survey shows that along with the development of society, the rural ma、riage payment level has increased year by year and the women status has been greatly improved, which promoting gender equality. However, part of the male has become the victim of high bride price, their weak position is worth to concern.The writer used the unique perspective to help the local villagers to understand the change of marriage payment and those undesirable phenomenon resulting from this, help them to establish a correct concept of marriage, love view and the view of consumption.
