The Study On The Relationship Within College Student’s Life Events, Social Support, Sense Of Coherence And Psychological Health

In order to provide some theoretical basis and practical reference for psychological counseling for college students,this study uses a questionnaire survey to investigate the deep relationship within students’ life events, social support, sense of coherence and mental health. The sense of coherence scale, social support scale, life event scale and symptom checklist are measurement tools.600college students aged18-22years old from Wuhan area are chosen as the research objects. The data of the study were processed with SPSS17.0for t-test, single factor analysis of variance, correlation analysis, regression analysis. The main results are as follows:There is significant difference between boys’ and girls’ sense of coherence. Boys scored significantly higher than girls on intelligibility. Students’ scores of life events significant differ in gender, the only child or not,the places they come from and their major. Girls score significantly higher than boys on interpersonal relationship and learning pressure. Students who are not the only child score significantly than students who are the only child on learning pressure. Rural students score significantly higher than urban students on learning stress. Students major in liberal arts score significantly higher than medical students on interpersonal relationships and punish dimensions..Students major in liberal arts score significantly higher than medical and science students on the dimensions of loss and learning stress. Medical students score significantly lower than students major in liberal arts and science on the dimension of health adaptation. Students’ score of social support differ in gender, the only child or not and places they come from. Girls score significantly higher than boys in the utilization of social support. Only children score significantly higher in the dimension of subjective support than non-only child. Rural students scores significantly higher than urban students in the subjective support dimension.There is a significant negative correlation between life events and psychology (r=0.092,0.137,0.124,p<0.05),except the health adaptation dimension(r=0.107,p<0.05).The health adaptation dimension is significantly positive correlate with psychology(r=0.092,p<0.05). Life events and social support have no significant correlation. Social support and sense of coherence is significantly positive correlated(r=0.137,p<0.05).Social support and mental health is significantly positive correlated(r=0.137,p<0.0)5.Sense of coherence and mental health is significantly positive correlated (r=0.124,p<0.05). Sense of coherence plays a intermediary role between life events and mental health both in high pressure group and low pressure group. College students’ life events and social support have direct effect on their mental health, the tatio of interpretation is0.654. Students’life events and social support together as independents have intermediary effect on mental health with sense of coherence as a intermediary variable.
