With the rapid development of multimedia technology and information technology,more and more visual information and energy constantly emerging, human visual field isconstantly expanding, has entered the "map reading age". From last century60s, Europe andthe United States and other countries began to focus on visual literacy education, through thedifferent investigation and experimental research, obtained a series of achievements, but inview of the visual literacy education in our country is still in its infancy, and mostly focus ontheoretical research. Due to the normal university students’ employment direction mostindustries tend to teachers, they bear the future burden of teaching, can say their visualliteracy directly affects the students visual literacy skills. Therefore, cultivating normaluniversity students’ visual literacy skills is imperative.In this paper, through literature analysis, experts, scholars’ point of view to review andsummarize, will refine the connotation of the visual literacy for visual interpretation ability,visual cognitive ability and application ability. Through empirical research, USES thequestionnaire survey and statistical analysis method of combining, in L normal university,questionnaire survey, random sampling methods for scientific data collected in schoolundergraduate students visual literacy status quo, and using SPSS statistical software for dataintegration and combination of qualitative and quantitative describe the present situation ofcollege students’ visual literacy in teachers colleges, the students have a certain visual readingability, but it is not comprehensive and deep; To take the initiative to contact the visualinformation in the life and study, but the lack of positive guidance teachers; Use visual meansof frequency is not high, learning ability; Common vision critical ability, should furtherimprove and enhance; Visual ability in express ways remains to be further improved;Applying visual literacy ability to practice the will of the strong, the lack of practical guidance;Students of different gender, different professional, different grade, the visual literacy abilityalso has difference, etc.Through the analysis of the questionnaire survey results, the author from two aspects oftheory and practice about the normal colleges students of visual literacy training strategy.First of all, on the theory of strategy, the teacher can exaggerate the characteristics of thevisual information, reinforcement learning stimulation difference dimension, strengtheningthe learners to be familiar with the characteristics of the three aspects of visual information todevelop the students’ ability of visual interpretation; Through the teacher’s words of chunking express, will get the vision information processing and so on way to cultivate students’ visualcognitive ability; Visual ideas through the visual images, will be treated as a visual languagefor writing, and promote students’ diversified forms of visual expression of this three aspectsto cultivate the students’ visual application ability. Strategy, second, in practice, take thecurriculum, improve teachers’ ability, create campus cultural atmosphere, the effective use ofinformation technology and the way the students self-promotion strategies to cultivatestudents’ visual literacy. Through the combination of theory and practice of the strategy, inorder to achieve effective promote the normal colleges students visual literacy abilityimprove.
