| It goes without saying that oral English teaching is of vital importance. Oral English is viewed as the most direct and effective way to achieve the goal of cross-cultural communication as well as the major criterion to measure one’s comprehensive language competence. This study, by investigating the problems lying in senior high school students’ oral English, analyzes and sorts the various causes of these problems, and tries to improve the daily communicative competence of senior high school students with a more effective teaching method. In real life, communicative events occur in a certain situation in order to perform a "concrete life task", accompanied by a specific and meaning purpose. Since it is communication, the task requires to be completed cooperatively by two or more parties. This study adopts the Multidimensional Teaching Method, which is an original approach relying on a combination of the Communicative Language Teaching, the Task-Based Language Teaching and the Cooperative Language learning and applies it to oral English teaching in senior high school. In teaching practice, teaching tasks are designed by imitating real life scenes, while students complete the tasks through group cooperation, and meanwhile students train and improve their communicative competence at the conclusion of the task.Based on the above conception, a study on the Multidimensional Teaching Method in oral English teaching was conducted for one academic year in the experimental class in Grade10in Haicheng Senior High School, the other class chosen as the control class. The validity of the experimental results has been proved through the following aspects:the study can arouse students’ enthusiasm for English learning, improve their communicative competence, as well as suit oral English teaching practice in senior high school. |
