According to some relative theories such as value chain, the advantages of acompany in business competition, especially the long-term advantages, are theadvantages of a company in some certain strategic segments in the value chain. Seizingthese key segments means seizing the whole value chain. The core strategic segmentvaries if a company belongs to a different industry. Therefore, if a company wants tohave its own competitive edge, it should combine its own conditions with industrialcharacteristics, find the core strategic segment in its own value chain and strengthenthese strategic segments.This dissertation is based on the theories of competitive edge, researches andimproves the unique and unimitated core competitive edge of Company Q. At first, theinformation of Company Q and a famous traditional cultural education traininginstitution in Shanghai has been collected, and then it analyses the present advantages ofthe company and find its unique core competitive edge. At last,according to thesefeatures of competitiveness, thorough measures have been promoted to improve thecompetitive edge of the company in its industry. In order to strengthen the long-lastingcompetitive edge, several promoted measures are as follows: on one hand,the companyneeds to make sure its strategic advantage, mold an unbeatable company culture andstrengthen the competitive edge of the company in its own industry. On the other hand,the teaching environment and staff training should be reinforced under the companyculture, which can make the core competitive edge long-lasting and automaticallyupdate to meet the needs of the changing customers to maintain its competitive edge inmarket.This dissertation consists of six chapters. The first chapter is introduction, thesecond chapter is general summaries of the competitive edge theories, the third is theintroduction of Company Q. As for the focus of the study, this dissertation begins withthe competitive edge of Company Q (Chapter4), follows the study of how to strengthenits advantages(Chapter5), and ends with the main conclusion, innovations andshortages.
