A college counselor is a member of the higher school teachers’ team and management team, who plays a key role in improving college students’ ideological and political quality and building their characters.As China’s further reform and public service institution preparing for management of colleges and universities in the same time, public institutions start to recruit staff on their own which cause the emerging part of the current teaching team, contract workers (that is, non-permanent contract workers, otherwise known as "supernumerary officer","temporary") in order to meet the needs of their development as well as ease the employment pressure. At present, non-permanent contract worker occupies a certain percentage of the faculty in colleges and universities, and the trend has continued to increase. Colleges and universities in the management of non-permanent contract workers also experience a lack of in-depth research and management, resulting in many non-permanent contract workers lack in their reasonable position and professional identity.This paper takes Nantong H College as an example, target at research into the change of vocation identification process of college counselors as non-permanent contract workers. In this study, the author mainly adopts the methods of literature study, investigation and study, has completed the following research task.First of all, the author defines the fabricating shift of contract workers’ vocation identification process concept, from the vocation cognition, vocation obeying and vocation acceptance, vocation internalization and vocation sublimation analyzed in five dimensions.Second, with the analysis of the contract workers’ vocation identification process in Nantong H College, the paper reveals their different stages of vocation identification process, thus drawing the outline of its development track.Third, the paper also summed up the vocation identification process of contract counselors of temporal and spatial characteristics based on areas from the community, schools and individuals, in respects from career orientation, employment, career management, security mechanisms and vocation values. In addition, it also analyzed the causes of the inferior level of vocation identification of non-permanent contract counselors.Last, solutions have been suggested to optimize vocation identification process of University counselors, in the hope that the right-oriented policy may be stipulated and due attention should be given to moral education and the role of counselors in a college. Moreover, colleges must clarify counselors’duties and prompt the specialization the position, refine the related guarding system and promote their personal career planning so as to trigger the growth of their individual value and career development. In the meantime, rediscovering their vocation value, counselors will be able to sublimate their identities by adjusting themselves so well to the counseling post that they will gradually be committed to their work.
