The Research On Social Service Ability In Kunming Medical University

With economic development and social progress, colleges and universities have moved into the center from the edge of society, which has brought in knowledge-based economy. Colleges and universities perform functions of talent cultivation, scientific research, social service and cultural inheritance. The function in social service originates from foreign countries and studies on social service function of colleges and universities began since the1980s in China. Over the past three decades, China has witnessed great changes and modern universities have also sprung up like mushrooms. With greatly improved national quality and rapid economic development, colleges and universities have become an irreplaceable part in social process. Gathering outstanding talents as well as continuing and innovating advanced knowledge, for research university social service capabilities are increasingly necessary.With integrated application of literature analysis, questionnaire and comparative analysis, this paper makes a systematic study on social services of colleges and universities from both theoretical and practical perspectives so as to provide references to research on serving capability of colleges and universities. In practice, taking Kunming Medical University as the object, this paper studies and analyzes social service contents and characteristics of Kunming Medical University based on extensive data collection, develops questionnaire for random survey on management personnel, graduate and undergraduate interns, teaching faculty and medical personnel working in the offices, colleges as well as under direct or affiliated administration of Kunming Medical University, the paper teases out the external environmental problems such as the imperfect operating mechanism of social service existing in Kunming Medical University, unsound laws and regulations, inadequate fiscal policy support, weak internal service awareness, imperfect related policies; imperfect service team, single service content and form, loose contact with the government and enterprises, poor quality of service and insufficiency. The article finally summarizes the five reasons of social service in Kunming Medical University such as insufficient social service awareness, ambiguous schooling philosophy for the society, inadequate cooperation with enterprises, weak social service ability, low relevancy with the society as well as less opened university resources.Based on statistical analysis of survey results and in view of actual conditions, this paper puts forward five effective countermeasures for Kunming Medical University to improve social service ability, including supporting policies and service system improvement, service team construction, service consciousness strengthening, society-oriented schooling improvement, talent cultivation adaptability, active service platform building, service form innovation, research achievement transformation promotion, close cooperation with enterprises and government, as well as stronger connection with the society. This paper aims to provide the basis for Kunming Medical University to improve its social service ability as well as reference for other medical universities to carry out research on social service ability.
