Based on the previous studies, through the elaboration of the theory of achievementmotivation, father’s rearing and other related theories, we investigate the characteristics of theachievement motivation and father’s rearing in rural senior high school students, and have afurther study on the relationship between motivation and academic achievement from theway of family education level, aimed at improving the way parents raise, cultivating students’achievement motivation, and promoting their academic performance.This study selects942students from a rural high school as the research objects. UsingEMBU, and SOAM, IOAM as the subject samples, this study analyzes the relationshipbetween father’s rearing, learning achievement motivation and academic achievement. Thisstudy also uses descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques for dataprocessing to draw the following conclusions.1. Father’s RearingIn the Grade variables, students in grade one of senior high school got more fathers’excessive interference and preference than ones in grade two in the parenting style.In the class variables, the experimental class is significantly higher than that of thecommon class from the aspect of emotional warmth and understanding. The regular class wassignificantly higher than that in the experimental class in the terms of severe punishment andrejection.In the gender variables, high school girls were significantly higher than boys from theaspect of emotional warmth and understanding; in the severe punishment, rejection,overprotection, excessive interference factor, high school boys are significantly higher thanthe high school girls in the terms of severe punishment, rejection, overprotection, excessiveinterference.The student who is the only child in the family enjoys more care and warmth.2. Achievement MotivationThere is significant difference in the achievement motivation of high school students ingrade. The achievement motivation level of students in grade one is above that in grade two.The achievement motivation level of High school girls is higher than that of boys. There is no significantly difference between the only child and non only child in theachievement motivation of high school students.3. A Significant Correlation between Father’s Rearing and Achievement Motivation.Father’s emotional warmth, understanding, excessive interference and overprotection aresignificantly positively correlated to the achievement motivation of the pursuit of self,negatively correlated to the motivation of avoiding failure. There is significant correlationbetween father’s rearing and social oriented achievement motivation.4. Father’s Rearing Influences Academic performance through Learning MotivationsFather’s emotional warmth, understanding, severe punishment, rejection, overprotectionan academic performance d excessive interference affect academic performance throughself-oriented achievement motivation, that is, excessive intervention and rejection have adirect negative impact on academic performance. However, father’s emotional warmth,understanding, severe punishment, and overprotection have a positive effect.Good parenting style contributes to cultivating students’ achievement motivation, andpromoting their academic performance.
