The high school stage is the most important of learning career.Parents and schools attach great importance to the changes in academic performance of high school students.There have beenpsychology and pedagogy studies shows that there are significant correlations between individual psychological factors and academic performance.Achievement motivation has important influnce that whether students can independent study or not.Learning engagement is a positive,happy psychological state focused on study.Both of them have an important impact on high school students' academic performance.In this study,mainlydicuss the relationship between achievement motivation and learning engagement,and the differences in demographic variables.So as to provide advice for better teaching.The study was used questionnaire survey method,the students in grade one,two,three wererandomly selected from a high school in LaiyuanCounty,BaodingCity,HebeiProvince.The study results are as follows.(1)Achievement motivation of high school student is at a good level.Boys' achievement motivation level is higher than girls'.Senior students have the lowest level of achievement motivation.The level of achievement of rural students is higher than that of urban students.There was no significant difference in the overall achievement motivation between the only child and the non-only child.(2)Learning engagement of high school student is at a good level.Boys' learning engagement level is higher than girls'.The grade one students have the highest score.There is no significant difference between urban and rural students.The only child scores higher than non-only child.(3)Achievement motivation was positively correlated with the learning engagement.Achievement motivation was positively correlated with the academic performance.Learning engagement was positively correlated with the academic performance.Learning engagement plays a mediation effect between achievement motivation and academic performance.
