Based on the theories of new urban sociology, this paper starts from Manuel Castells’s Collective Consumption Theory, David Harvey’s Social Spatial Theory and Neo-Weberian Housing Class Theory, which combined with human capital, economic capital, power capital and social capital to establish the analytical framework and build up a series of hypothesis about China’s urban housing stratification. By means of setting up hieratical linear model, this paper analyses data from CGSS2008, and the results support the established research hypothesis. The results show that there are inequalities in China’s contemporary urban housing consumption area, and prove the rationality and feasibility to analyze urban problems of China by using new urban sociology theories, which can provide significant and methodological references for government to develop and perfect its urban housing policies so as to reduce inequalities among different stratums of China.
