With China’s higher education into the popularization stage, more and more students have the opportunity to enter the university to study. Northwest Muslims also have the opportunity. Northwest Muslims have their own unique language and culture background and national psychological characteristics, they have some difficulties in life, interpersonal communication, learning and religious beliefs when they come to higher school in east or central area where densely populated by inhabitants of the Han Nationality. Their adaptation matters the minority college students’ study enthusiasm, the quality of education, and national unity. In order to let them adapt themselves to campus life as soon as possible, it is necessary to study the social adaptation of Muslim minority college students.The dissertation consists of five chapters:Chapter one mainly introduces the origin and research meaning, relative conception and innovation in this article. Chapter two mainly introduces literature review at home and abroad, this chapter talks about the lack of research in the past. Chapter three mainly introduces basic methods and cultural adaptation theory. Chapter four introduces that author surveys and interviews Northwest Muslims in Nanjing, showing and analyzing maladjustment in life, interpersonal communication, learning and religious beliefs, at last concluding that objective and subjective factors led to the different adaptation. Chapter five gives possible solutions to the problem above from maladjustment.
