In recent years, higher education has developed quickly in our country, the university education has become popular gradually, and the university increased the enrollment, so the peak season of graduation has come. Recently the "held the certificate before taking up a job" system in many companies has carried out. The stem employment situation caused quite many students to realize the crisis. Therefore, since the late1990s, it has emerged a "Certificate Craze" phenomenon in the university campus of our country. Now, the university students take certificate examination increasingly fiercely, it has already taken an important part in study and life of university student. Relevant data show that, the reason of most university students taking certificates is for the job. They want to prove their value by more certificates. In fact, the employers put emphasis on the ability of the university students in the recruitment. The academic circles regard the ability required by the employers as the employability.The research object of this paper defined as students of three universities in Dalian. This paper adopts empirical research and studies the relationship between university student taking certificates and employability.The paper respectively discuss the relation between the number, the types, the selection basis, the methods, the schedule of taking certificates and employability. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) No significant correlation is found between the number of certificates and employability.(2) There is significant correlation between the types of certificates and employability. In the regression analysis, there is no significant correlation. Therefore the types of certificates cannot be used as a factor to explain the employability of university student.(3) There is significant correlation between the selection basis of taking certificates and employability. The university students who choose "the certificates required by specific career goal" get the highest score in employability; the university students who choose "follow the others, taking the certificates others have " get the lowest score in the employability(4) There is significant correlation between the method of taking certificates and employability. The university students who choose "making a detailed study plan, reviewing by the plan "get the highest score in employability; the university student who choose "only studying before the test" get the lowest score in employability.(5) There is significant correlation between the schedule of taking certificates and employability. The university students who choose "arranging spare-time reasonably to take certificates and practice" get highest score in employability; the university students who choose "spending all the spare-time in taking certificates" get the lowest score in employability.
