It’s said that innovation is a conceptualization process, which is characterized of new thoughts, new inventions and new descriptions. It is also an inexhaustible motive force to promote the nation’s progress and social development. Innovative capability is an important ability. Biological experiment, as the source of biological formation and development, plays an important role in cultivating students’ innovative ability. The new curriculum reform pays more attention to the dominant position of students. It makes students learn to construct knowledge, develop learning ability, cultivate innovative spirit and improve practical ability. The biology curriculum standard aims to improve biological science literacy of all students and advocate their inquiry learning which purpose is to change the way of students’ learning, guide students to participate in the inquiry process and cultivate students’ innovative spirit. Therefore, implementation of innovation in the teaching of biology experiment can effectively implement the concept of the new curriculum reform, enhance students’ learning ability, stimulate students’ scientific thinking and cultivate students’ innovative consciousness. However, because of senior high school biological content, class time tight, combined with the limitation of experimental conditions, backward experiment evaluation methods and part of teachers and students negative experimental attitudes, hinder the development of biological experiment innovation.This paper contains six parts, using literature, questionnaire and laboratory experimental methods. The first part analyzes the current situation, the goal and significance of the study; The second part describes the basic concepts and theoretical basis of experimental innovation; The necessity and feasibility was analyzed in the third part; A questionnaire of500students and45teachers in four senior high schools was conducted to learn about the status of the teaching and the reasons was analyzed in the fourth part; The fifth part is core of the study. In this part some experimental innovation was researched and the general methods were summed up; Finally, some reasonable suggestions were put forward. The results of this study show that: implementation of experimental innovation can strengthen the dominant position of students, promote their enthusiasm and initiative, help students understand and master biological basic theory and experimental skill, develop students’ awareness of innovation, and constantly improve their innovative ability. I hope this study can encourage biology teachers pay more attention to cultivate students’ innovative ability, provide helpful reference for innovative teaching of biological experiments.
