As one of the important teaching concepts, historical data teaching is becoming more and more important In the process of advancing the reform of history curriculum. From the perspective of classroom teaching, it is hard to have a distinctive history class which both reflects history new curriculum concept and carries out the new standard requirement without working hard on the selection, application and analysis of the historical data. So to speak, any interesting and efficient history class is inseparable from the important link of the historical data teaching.Under this circumstance, carrying out the study of the theory and practice of the historical data teaching based on the experience of the foreign historical teaching to cultivate students’ history thinking ability is particularly important. This paper researches on American’s historical data teaching based on the relevant theory of history and pedagogy, seven aspects of the detailed analysis and research on American’s historical data teaching have carried out mainly through the concepts and specific operation steps of the historical data teaching.(1)To define the historical data and historical data teaching. Interpreting the historical data and historical data teaching from the aspects of concept, classification and the selection principle.(2)The general development of history teaching in American. According to time, the American history teaching development is divided into four stages, this part elaborates the general situation of the development in specific stage.(3)Reasons of American’s emphasis on the historical data teaching. This chapter discusses the reasons from three aspects:the requirements of the national curriculum standard of American, the influence of modern western historiography and the value of history teaching in civic education.(4)The process of historical data teaching in American’s middle school history class.This section is the core part of this article, making specific research for the historical data teaching from three aspects, namely:the theory to support the historical data teaching, the prelude to the historical data teaching, and the effective teaching methods of the historical data teaching. This part combines the theory and specific case together.(5) Characteristic of the historical data teaching. Combining with the historical data teaching process, the American historical data teaching has six characteristics:first, the historical data teaching value orientation highlights the change from the "knowledge--based" to "human--based"; Second, the historical data teaching pay more attention to the evaluation of the learning process, Third, the historical data sources are not only rich but also emphasize the evidence; Fourth, emphasis on teacher--domination, students-centered and the organic combination of both. Fifth, the various historical data teaching focuses on cultivating students’ history thinking ability; Sixth, the history test in United States is one of the achievement evaluations of historical data teaching.(6) Enlightenment to our middle school history teaching. The purpose of studying the historical data teaching is to help us better carry on the historical data teaching, which is introduced from three aspects:first, brief introduction of the historical data teaching situation in our country; Second, problems of history teaching in our country; Third, matters that historical data teaching should pay attention to.(7) The conclusion part points out that learning and reference from others must cater to the reality of one’s own and must not aim high and be impractical.All in all, historical data teaching research mainly focus on how to carry out the historical data teaching to cultivate the students’ history thinking ability, which is the core of this article and the basic purpose of topic selection.
