As the teachers’ professional development deepens, the studies related teachers’professional development are increasingly becoming necessary. Urban-rural gap ineducation in our nation make teachers in rural compulsory education schools haveresearch signiifcance. Literature review and investigation are involved in the research.Meanwhile, the thesis investigates current problems and factors inlfuencing thedilemma of teachers’ professional development in rural compulsory education schoolsand makes an attempt to raise suggestions for improvement.Undoubtedly, teachers will encounter dilemmas as far as their professionaldevelopment concerned. The thesis maintains that the dilemma contains pressure,trouble, difficulty and problems on the aspect of theory, policy, teacher and school. Inother words, the intent of the research is to extract speciifc dilemmas from abovelimiting factors influencing teachers’ professional development. Teachers’professional development is inlfuenced by theory, policy, teacher and school. Theresearch places a high value on schools and maintains that schools are the basis ofteachers’ professional development. Teachers’ professional development in ruralcompulsory education schools depends on management concept,system security?organizational culture and resources security.The empirical study reveals the problems that lie in the dilemma of teachers’professional development in rural compulsory education schools. With regard toteachers,lacking of systematic knowledge,disapproving the professional role anddeifciency of learning consciousness are existed. In the aspect of system security,teaching and research system, training system, evaluation and incentive mechanismare all concerned. As far as organizational culture concerned,material assurance andphysical security should be improved. The time, funds and information resources areinsufficient on resources security. According to the problems put forward, someefficient suggestions are raised: educational philosophy, principal’s leadership style, teaching and research system, training system, evaluation and incentive mechanism,values and ideals, learning atmosphere, behavioral conventions, time, funds,information resources, etc.
