At present, teachers’ professional development has received a lot ofcountries’ attention, and become a trend of international teacher educationreform, as well as a great theoretical significance subject of the currenteducation reform practice. We are living in the information age, informationability and information literacy become one of the important part of the overalldevelopment. The new curriculum reform also paid special attention to trainstudents’ learning and ability to survive in the information society. Informationtechnology teachers play an important role in training students’ informationliteracy, so their professional development must be valued for attention. As theworld’s large agricultural nation, the urgency and important meaning of the ruralinformation technology teachers’ professional development is still not getenough attention.This research mainly adopts questionnaire and interviews as our researchmethod. We took the rural information technology teachers at compulsoryeducation stage of the2010A, B provinces who attended the National trainingplan as our research object. We studied their basic situation, professionalknowledge, professional skills, professional cordiality and professional development way. The study gave out263questionnaires and250validquestionnaires were received, then we used the questionnaire data processingsoftware SPSS for the data analysis. We also selected seven of them for aface-to-face depth interview in order to supplement the insufficiency of thequestionnaire.Through the analysis, we considered that the whole level of the ruralinformation technology teachers’ professional development is not high atcompulsory education stage, regardless of professional knowledge, professionalability or professional cordiality. The external factors such as the school leader,students, other subjects teacher, the hardware, teaching material has a greatinfluence on the rural information technology teachers’ professionaldevelopment. Meanwhile, they are lack of favorable development way in theprocess of the professional development. So we must focus on the ruralinformation technology teachers’ life, work environment, improve theirprofessional status, increase the strength of the teachers training and ensure thetraining effect, the teachers themselves also strengthen their consciousness ofdevelopment to promote the constant rural information technology teachers’professional development.
