Status Of A University Of Participatory Democracy Management

With the development of the popularization in higher education, the democratic aspirations of the faculty are also rising. The university management is facing more challenges. Under the new situation, the university emphasizes a balanced participation of the power. Through the introduction and expansion of participatory democracy, the university is able to enhance the level of democratic management. The study of participatory democratic management in universities produces theoretical value and practical significance.On the basis of the concept defining for the participatory democratic management in_universities, this text demonstrates the significant differences between democratic management and general democratic management. It describes the status and the role of participatory democratic management in the construction of the modern university system. And it points out the use of direct democratic elements in universities. The subject is the majority of staffs and students, and the object is to affect the main management decisions or university in public life. By the introduction to the theory and practice of participatory democracy management, this text discusses the practical significance of university management:First, to adapt to the practical needs of the connotative development of universities; Second, to enhance the level of democratic management; Third, to promote the construction of modern university system.With the example of University X, we investigated the characteristics of the administrative staffs, teachers, students, and channels for participation and evaluation criteria, and evaluated the status quo of University X objectively. Combined with the interviews, the conclusion is drawn in the text that there are some problems, for example, the power is unequal, the operation of the regulatory agencies is not efficient enough, the development of the management of the environment is not perfect, and so on. We find three reasons:the traditional management model is lagging behind; the main body of participants is relatively vague and the protection participatory mechanism is relatively weak. Finally, we provide some advices in this text to solve the problem. The specific content including:First, we should promote awareness of democratic management and clear democratic participation goals; Second, we should use the democratic management platform and change the democratic participation. Third, we should integrate the democratic management of resources and improve the democratic participation mechanisms.The innovation of this paper is mainly manifested in three aspects:First, on the research perspective, we combines with participatory democratic management connotation, characteristics and requirements. This text elaborates the main characteristics of participatory democratic management, and channels for participation and evaluation criteria, and it discusses the status and role of participatory democratic management in the construction of the modern university system. Second, in the research methods, to reveal the problems and reasons, we attach importance to the research and empirical, in-depth study and statistical analysis of University X. Third, in the content of the study, we use characteristics, standards and requirements as an analytical framework, focusing on asking questions and analyzing problems. To make more targeted and operational solutions, we seek solutions and improve the college participatory democratic level.
