Objective:Cognitive problems play an important role in keeping balance of our bodies. Moreand more reports and researches showed that there is a significant contact between thedecline of cognition and balance problems including falls. The researches abouttraining have been the hot point of recent study. The aim of this study is to analysisthe different effect on the single task and different dual tasks when they are used inbalance test.Methods:25young men volunteered to join this experiment. All the subjects would test thebody balance function on MTD-balance (Keeping balance by one leg on both sides ineyes-open and eyes-closed situations). Subjects will be tested three times, each timeinterval of2weeks. Every subject will finish3kinds of tests: single task, dual task1(music) and dual task2(mental arithmetic). MTD-balance collected the data of themaximum and average deviation of the weight in both frontal plane and vertical planeand the peripheral area of the weight. Statistical testing was performed using SPSS17.0.All significance levels were set at p=0.05.Result:1. There are no difference of single task and dual task1(P>0.05).2. Dual task2shows a greater negative effect on the data of maximum deviation ofthe weight in vertical plane when eyes are open than single task (P<0.05) but nodifference when eyes are closed (P>0.05).3. Dual task2shows a greater negative effect on the data of maximum deviation ofthe weight in frontal plane in eye-open situations than single task and dual task2(P<0.01) but no difference when eyes are closed (P>0.05).4. Dual task2shows a greater negative effect on the data of peripheral area of theweight in frontal plane in eye-open situations than single task and dual task2(P<0.01)but no difference when eyes are closed (P>0.05).Conclusion:1. The music in the experiment did not show a statistically difference.2. The mental arithmetic dual task performance shows negative effect on balance.3. The negative effect is smaller in eye-closed situation than in eye-open situation inmental arithmetic dual task.
