Cultivating Junior Students’ Learning Strategies In English Learning

In most of China’s Junior Middle schools, nearly every class is large. In this learning environment, the students of a class can be good and bad in learning competence. The learners are marked different in level of performance.Because of these unavoidable problems, teachers can not make every student learn sufficiently in a limited45-minute class. However, if the students of one class basically have the ability of self-learning, then, the students dominate in the teaching and learning process. Teachers just play a guiding role; or teachers’same suggestion and guidance can meet all the needs of students. This scene is exactly what we trying to achieve. Once, we put more emphasis on low-level skills of learning instead of learning methods, learning strategies training such kind of advanced skills. The result is students can’t learn, and also increase their burden. Many students spend a lot of time and effort, but English learning effect is still not ideal. If we penetrate the learning strategies to teaching process, help the students learn how to use learning strategies, enable students to become independent, autonomous and effective life-long learners. Only in this way, our education system is to be regarded as a success.This essay analyzes the relationship between learning strategies and autonomous learning, and the factors impacting learning strategies and autonomous learning. Based on these factors, the author combined the learning strategies, autonomous learning theories with teaching experience, and did a survey on learning strategies of the students. Afterward, the author put forward some suggestions on learning strategies training so as to help students use learning strategies correctly, help them become independent, autonomous and effective learners.This essay is trying to explore effective learning strategies training ways, in the hope that teachers pay attention to learning strategies training, try to change their teaching ways, penetrate learning strategies in the teaching class, and help students become life-long learners.
