Engineering Major Ideological And Political Education

Engineering majors is a group of college students with rich characteristics, andtheir thoughts and behaviors are different from those of other majors. During the longtime in the past, there existed the bias of “emphasizing liberal arts or science”inChina’s higher education, or people only emphasized on simple professional trainingand educating, thus ignored the importance and function of the ideological andpolitical education. There are no scientific and systematic ways and approaches tostudy ideological and political education effectively according to the present situationof engineering majors’ thoughts.A practical problem that Chinese Universitiesespecially Science and Engineering colleges faced is that how to promote theengineering students’ ideological and political education availably.At first, the thesis is based on consulting a large number of documents, and it hasa quite comprehensive grasp of the characteristic of the engineering students’ideological and political education. And through conducting a sampling survey ofengineering majors at one college,the analysis on the present situation of their thoughtcomes from the study target, personal relationship,and psychological condition etc.Then, the author analyzes the current existing problem of the engineeringstudents’ ideological and political education from three aspects:universitymanagement philosophy, ideological and political education team as well asengineering majors themselves. And then it probes into the cause of the problem.
