With the rapid development of the world economy and technology, more and moreprofessional positions continue to produce and demise. The new employment situation requireshigher requirements to the individual professional competence. At the same time, continuouslyimproving the professional competence is also an important guarantee for the development ofindividual career. Nevertheless, because of the existing teachers, students, and fundingrestrictions, coupled with training in higher vocational students to the traditional "employment"as the goal, based on student career development of professional competence always beenneglected.This paper based on “the career development education programs of professionalcompetence”,with literature studies, comparative studies,as well as case studies and otherresearch methods,focusing five selected career development educational programs: Tech prep,O*NET,career clusters,career pathways and study project,manufacturing as the casethroughout the five projects. On this basis, summarizes the characteristics of the variousprojects,goals,implementation,and effectiveness of horizontal contrast. Finally,by drawingon the United States based on the professional competence of career development practice,drawn on the merits of China’s vocational education,career education in Vocational constructivecomments.Specific framework of this paper is as follows:The introductory section describes the research the origin and significance of the topic and researchpurposes and methods, literature review of previous studies,and noted that the focus of this dissertation,the difficulties and lack of relevant concepts defined in the paper;Chapter I is around the professional ability training process,analysis of five careerdevelopment practice characteristics of the project objectives, the implementation andeffectiveness;Chapter II is a summary of characteristics and shortcomings of career developmenteducational programs;Chapter Ⅲ is to draw on the experience of the American career development educationalprograms, professional competence of China’s vocational education, career developmenteducation and practical projects to think,draw some constructive comments.
