Recently cooperative learning has been proposed by the new curriculum reform in China.It is a new way of teaching and learning. It is a new teaching theory ans strategy coming fromthe United States and Europe, which allows teachers to teach students by using cooperativelearning groups in the classroom. Only in this way can establish the interactive structure bycommunication and cooperation between teachers and students or between students andstudents, which completely changes the traditional classroom teaching. This study focuses onthe implementation and importance of a high school English cooperative learning in theclassroom. Its guidance is the new high school English curriculum standards and cooperativelearning theory. This paper is mainly divided into seven parts to elaborate. The details are asfollows.The preface includes the raise of the question, the significance and the research as wellas the methods of the research.The first chapter defines what the cooperative learning is and what effects thecooperative learning has on senior English middle school.The second chapter is a survey about cooperative learning in the English classroom ofsenior high school. It takes No.1Middle School of Nanhe as an example. I separatelyconducted the teachers and students in this school and combined questionaries as well as thespecific case of cooperative learning so as to point out problems and deficiencies in theprocess of it in the English classroom of senior high school.The third chapter proves the author’s viewpoints based on an experimental study. In theexperimental class, the teacher adopted the cooperative learning while in the compared classthe teacher still used the traditional method. After a term, we’ve got some useful conclusions.
