The theory of Group Cooperative Learning originated in the USA in the 1970 s.This theory has been regarded as an effective teaching model and strategy with which students’ initiative, consciousness of cooperation, innovation ability, and scores will be promoted and the classroom atmosphere will be active. Meanwhile, it is considered to be “the most important and successful teaching reform in recent years.â€With the gradual implementation of the new round of curriculum reform in our country, people put more emphasis on changing the traditional teaching idea, transforming students’ learning style, constructing active classroom teaching model, advocating a new type of teacher-student relationship and the relationship between students. Therefore, in the new curriculum reform, the status and influence of Group Cooperative Learning become more and more important. However, at present, because of the influence of education depending on numbers of tests and exams on the elementary education in our country and the universal existence of spoon-feeding teaching methods, many English teachers attempt to implement Group Cooperative Learning in the classroom to change this situation.However, due to various reasons,the efficiency of such learning mode is extremely low. Therefore, it is necessary to know the actuality of Group Cooperative Learning, analyze and summarize the existing problem, and research on the efficiency of Group Cooperative Learning in classroom teaching, providing feasible reference and suggestion for teachers who implement effective Group Cooperative Learning in the classroom teaching.With the combination of theoretical and experimental research, this paper discusses the definition, theoretical basis, correlational researches and implementation strategies at first, and then based on the understanding of the requirements for new curriculum reform and teaching condition in junior high school, carries out the teaching experiments and surveys with the students that are taught by the author as research object, emphatically discusses how to implement the activities of Group Cooperative Learning in English teaching of the junior high school through specific teaching cases, and explains the group division, roles of the group members, group training and evaluation method in Group Cooperative Learning.After a year’s experiment and research on the academic performance,questionnaire survey and personal interview of the experimental class that adopts the Group Cooperative Learning, the data analysis proves that the Group Cooperative Learning in classroom teaching can not only improve the students’ academic performance, but also cultivate students’ positive attitude. However, there are still some problems. Therefore, teachers should continuously seek right approaches to solve the problems, and renew their teaching ideas to build a scientific and efficient English teaching classroom in junior high school. |
