Since the expansion of higher education in1999, the higher education in China entered the stage of popularization. When we are glad for the achievements, we also have to face the problems about the decrease in the quality of graduates. At the same time, the college students are facing bigger and bigger challenges from the society about the new requirements of jobs. This paper aims to discuss the problems of higher education in China, by using NSSE, and evaluates the quality of higher education from the aspect of students.Firstly, by reading a lot of literature information, the paper analyzes the present situation of higher education of China and foreign countries, including evaluation of undergraduate education, student evaluation of teaching and professional certification. According to the documents, the evaluation of higher education managed by the government ignores the opinions of students.Secondly, the paper reviews the viewpoints of higher education quality, discusses the concepts, standards and the evaluation work of undergraduate education. It analyzes the differences between NSSE and SERU, expounds the theoretical basis and achievements of the survey of student engagement and proves the necessity of introducing this kind of evaluation into China.At last, this paper takes two majors as objects of study, in which Sino-German College of Technology is treated as main object of study and the students for other two colleges from the same majors as reference group. And by analyzing the results of questionnaires, it looks for the good teaching measures for improving the quality of higher education.
