The university campus culture is responsible for the cultural developmentand innovation which is the most significant factor of improving the corecompetitiveness in contemporary university. In recent years, the universitycampus culture has been the central issue of research on higher educationmanagement in China. There still exists a gap in comparison with America, apowerful educational country who has gained remarkable achievement in theuniversity campus culture. Therefore, it is essential to compare Chinese andAmerican university campus cultural development as well as learn successfulexperiences.Based on comparative, structural and documentary methods, this thesiscarries on Chinese and American university campus cultural developmentcomparison research from the following aspects: cultural process, behavior,system and material process. It analyzes and summarizes our university campuscultural development to find out the disadvantages and put forward someimproving measures drawing on American university campus culturalexperiences.Cultural process: Develop excellent culture in university; foster scientificvalues; change educational methods to improve teaching.Behavior: Develop excellent culture of campus, learning and teaching;establish good organizations and enrich extracurricular practices; set up goodexamples; change ideas to improve social services.System: Develop humanized management with democracy and science;establish a reasonable contemporary university system; form a standardcomprehensive evaluation system.Material process: Develop high-quality equipment; build up beautiful environment and elegant architectures; set up rational identification culture;allocate financial input appropriately.
