With the rapid development of the21-century economy, our society has put forwards muchhigher standards of talents. The traditional teaching model has made the students accustomed towait, not being able to think motivately and creatively. Having been buried in the sea of papersand exams, they grow up to be problem solving tools, and such graduates can’t meet the demandof our society for talents. In this context, in order to free the students from the traditionalteaching model, our country has started a new round of curriculum reform, which aims to let thestudents study in a good mood, to develop good habits, to grasp scientific methods, to learn howto communicate and cooperate with others and to feel their own achievement and fulfillment instudy. For this purpose, all of the schools have proposed to build a“efficient class”. Under theissituation, the learning guide has become a powerful tool.This study consists of two parts: the design of learning guide and the application of learningguide.In the study of the design aspect, firstly, the author defines the concept of learning guideand displays its functions in the teaching process. In view of the problems existing in design, theauthor proposes the principles of designing learning guide and the author divides the learningguide into four parts: learning objectives, before-class study, in-class interaction and after-classconsolidation. Furthermore, the author has stated the designing strategies for each part in details.In respect of the in-class interaction part, it contains the division of a module, the creation of theproblem situations, the design of a question set. All in all, the author has offered detaileddesigning strategies and the basic procedures of each part and proposed some problems thatshould focus on while designing.Afterwards, this study provides two samples of learning guide--one is a class for physicsconcept, and the other is a class of physics laws. At the beginning, the author states someproblems we should pay attention to while designing these kinds of lessons. With thses twosamples, the author analyses the design intentions and ideas and clarifies the former theories in details.In the study of the application strategies, the author displays the basic operating proceduresat first, and then the author reminds us some other problems we should pay attention to.In the end, in order to know the effect of using the learning guide, the author carried out atwo-stage survey—before using the learning guide and after using it. this survey aims to graspthe students’ studying feelings, studying habits and studying methods. According to the results,the author found that learning guide was helpful to improve the students’ confidence, to get theminvolved in the class, to better their studying habits and studying methods.
