Peer relations is the most important relationships besides the parent-childrelationship which closely affect the psychological development of children. However,survey showed that as much as20%to42%Children in a class are unpopular,theyignored or rejected by his partners,facing the problems of peer relations.Elementarygrades is the turning point of the psychological development of children, is also thecritical period of their peer relations development,if those children can not geteffective guidance and intervention, many aspects of their development such as socialskills, adaptability and mental health have long-term adverse effects. Small groupcounseling as a means of school mental health education, with a targeted, time-savingadvantages, particularly effective for interpersonal counseling. Therefore, in order todeceloping children pro-social behavior,social communication strategies andpromoting peer acceptance and relationships, researcher designed science curriculaand training methods to train unpopular children by small group counseling.The research adopted before-after comparison method,used the fourth gradesutdents as participants. Firstly, the study selected individuals who rejected or ignoredin class by peer nomination and randomly divided them into experimental group andcontrol group, then conducted a pretest by SDQ scale. Then experimental groupparticipated in a scientific designed and organizationed counseling courses, one ortwo times a week, lasting three months, however the control group didn’t participatein the courses.Finally conducted a posttest same as pretest to find out interventioneffect.Conclusion is as follows:1.The intervention increasing the prosocial behavior and positive nomination ofchildren, improving the children’s peer acceptance, and the study achieved goodeffect.2.Small group counseling is a feasible and effective means of school mentalhealth education activities,can improve children’s peer relationships.
