Because one or both parents work outside the home, while the left-behind children over to the guardian, is not able to satisfy their emotional need, also can not get proper guidance and help, this would have an adverse effect on their psychological, easily lead to psychological problems. While the left-behind children are in body and mind development period, this period needs more parental care and guidance, lack of parental care in any party will have certain impact on the left-behind children’s physical and mental health. Therefore the status of leftbehind children in mental health is not optimistic.Junior left-behind children along with the growth of the age, peer relationship plays a more and more important role, the companion accompany, left-behind children can feel the warmth and friendship, very beneficial to the development of their mental health. This study based on the research at home and abroad, make use of the existing test and theory, discussion between left-behind children and non left-behind children’s mental health and peer relationships, and through group counseling intervention on peer relationship of left-behind children, analysis of whether there is a significant difference before and after the intervention of left-behind children’s peer relationship and psychological health level.Study on a selected schools in Yuzhou City, Xuchang City, Henan Province, 252 first grade,second, third grade students, the left-behind children and non left-behind children’s mental health and peer relationship scores were compared, the results are as follows:(1) non left-behind children and children in mental health scores, there are significant differences on anxiety, loneliness tendency, body symptom, left-behind children scored significantly higher than non left-behind children score.(2) left-behind children and non left-behind children peer relations exist significant differences,left-behind children scored significantly higher than non left-behind children score.(3) left-behind children peer relationship and mental health factor scores of learning anxiety,anxiety to people, loneliness tendency, impulsion tendency, allergic tendency, terror tendency,body symptom score was positively related to.Research from a two study subjects selected 23 left-behind children peer relations of group counseling intervention, a total of 8 times of group counseling, which lasted two and a half months. The level of mental health intervention before and after the intervention of peer relationship and psychological health level and peer relationships were compared, the results are as follows:(1) left-behind children before and after the intervention of peer relationship score has the remarkable difference, the intervention of peer relationship score decreased significantly, the situation has significantly improved the peer relationship.(2) the left-behind children’s mental health scores before and after intervention, there were significant differences of psychological health, intervention.The total score, learning anxiety, anxiety to people, self accusation tendency, allergic tendency, body symptom score was significantly decreased, the level of mental health improving.By study 1 and study two results we can draw the following conclusions:(1) compared with non left-behind children,left-behind children’s mental health status and peer relationship status is not optimistic.(2)group counseling can improve the left-behind children’s peer relationships, improve their psychological health level.
