At the beginning of this article summarizes the status quo of the current domestic junior middle school art class teaching design and the formative assessment research present situation, found that use of formative evaluation in junior middle school art research literature quantity less, the lack of empirical research, thus finding out the research value and research innovation point of this article.In this study learn from home and abroad on the basis of studying the use of formative evaluation in art class, the integrated use of literature research, action research method, questionnaire method and the method of observation form the evaluation of teaching effect. Mainly for the students of class2grade two contrast experiment, namely, that in comparative classes only summative evaluation method of teaching, and the experimental classes is combination of summative evaluation and formative evaluation method to carry on the teaching. Through the implementation of formative assessment in the experimental class teaching, research teaching of experimental classes of students learning attitude, learning effect, expounds: implementation of formative assessment in the second day grade art class teaching, can effectively improve students’ learning initiative and enthusiasm to learn and improve academic performance, at the same time promote the practice of the new curriculum concept, namely "by evaluating better promote learning".This study in art class teaching implementation of formative assessment, according to the data analysis, the following conclusions:1, the implementation of formative assessment to experimental class students is conducive to stability of the students’ learning attitude.2, in the short term implementation of formative assessment of teaching can not obviously improve students’ academic performance.
