Textbooks are the carrier of the teaching activities, also the resources and tools of study. With the innovation and development of the new standards of curriculum, the English textbooks are being improved and updated. Making an intensive study of the curriculum standard and textbooks is one of the important task for the high school teachers. Between the current high school English textbooks, the arrangement of the grammatical points differs greatly acorrding to the different requirements of the different curriculum standards. Meanwhile, different high school teachers may emphasize on different aspect in their teaching process, which have caused high school grammar teaching coherence problems. This paper aims to investigate the reality which exists in the transition of English teaching materials from junior high to senior high and the reasons why English teaching materials can’t be joined well, and then give some suggestions about some corresponding methods to improve the teaching. It is better for the transition and improving the teaching quality.Firstly, this paper studies and researches the related literature and data, then try to find out what the previous scholars have studied on this question. By using theories of the English curriculum standard, and the input hypothesis as the theory foundation to support the research of this paper. Secondly, making an analysis of the characteristics of high school English grammar and putting forward the corresponding teaching strategies in teaching cohesion. In a word, doing a good job in English grammar teaching cohesion helps reduce the burden of high school students in English learning and also can enhance their confidence and ability to learn English.
