After 40 years of rapid development of reform and opening up,China's GDP has leapt to the second in the world, and its economic development has achieved fruitful results. It has also experienced the impact of the financial crisis in 2008.Its economic growth has slowed down, its economic fundamentals have undergone historic and substantial changes, and its economic development has entered a new stage.Along with the change of economic development, new characteristics have emerged in the form of population development, the total amount and structure of labor force have also changed significantly, and the research on population migration has also advanced to a new level.Migrant population is also one of the important sources of regional population growth, and its changes affect economic development.Population migration is the precondition of realizing the spatial redistribution of population resources. The gap between urban and rural areas and the household registration system have formed the population migration activities with Chinese characteristics. The migration population reacts on the migration area and has an important influence on the economic development of the immigrant areas. As the first province in China in terms of total floating population and GDP,Guangdong province has great attraction and development potential in household registration immigration. It is a research object with high research value in the relationship between population immigration and economic development.Different regions have different economic and social conditions, and the thrust of migrant population on economic development is different in different regions and different periods. The scale of migrant population and economic growth are not absolutely positive correlation. Therefore,it is necessary to accurately describe the current situation on the basis of data analysis, delineate the relationship between the inter-provincial migration population and economic development, and analyze it in accordance with local conditions in combination with economic and population basis, regional economic development needs, current policies and other factors.Based on the panel data of 21 cities and 4 regions(Pearl River Delta,East Wing,West Wing,Mountain Area)from 2003 to 2017,this paper calculates the impact of inter-provincial population changes on economic output by usingthe Cobb-Douglas Production Function and descriptive and explanatory analysis methods, and analyze the impact of inter-provincial migration in different regions and periods on the economy of Guangdong province. This paper tries to explain the reasons behind this phenomenon and put forward some suggestions on the reform of household entry policy.Through empirical analysis, the inter-provincial immigrants have a positive role in promoting economic output, and also have a significant contribution to regional employment. The contribution of inter-provincial population migration to economic development has significant regional and temporal differences.Although the role of capital is still evident, the role of population is also very important and the pulling role of inter-provincial population migration to the economy is on the rise. The potential contribution of inter-provincial migrants to economic development still needs to be further explored, but there are significant differences among regions and conditions are different,so the household policy should be adjusted according to local conditions.Generally speaking,it is suggested that the standards for entry of talents should be relaxed at different levels, while basic public services should be improved, and regional carrying capacity should be integrated.Population dividends should be further released and reform dividends should be further released, and institutional barriers to population migration should be eliminated.
