Sports as social and cultural phenomenon is closely related to political issues. It is not only subject to politics but also provides service for it. The connotation of diplomacy expanded as time goes on, new forms of diplomacy emerge in endlessly, sports diplomacy is one of them. Sports diplomacy has strong flexibility which other diplomatic forms don’t have because it is less affected by factors such as social system, ideology and so on.Since the founding of PRC, sports diplomacy becomes the first tool of diplomatic work as a part of new China’s overall diplomacy. It played a positive role in the maintenance of national sovereignty, breaking the Western blockade, promoting international exchanges, cooperation and mutual understanding, expanding international influence. After many years of accumulating experience in sports diplomacy, China has explored some development models about sports diplomacy. At present, there is a growing emphasis on "soft power" and national image construction within China, so it is necessary to study the development pattern of China’s sports diplomacy.2008Beijing Olympic Games is significant to China’s sports diplomacy. Through the29th Olympic Games, China has shown its peaceful development, its integration with the world and the images of enthusiasm, open-minded. It also contributed to China’s "summit diplomacy","public diplomacy","media diplomacy""cultural diplomacy" and other forms of diplomacy. Meanwhile, China’s sports diplomacy should draw lessons from the Beijing Olympic Games, formulating relevant policies, setting up relevant institutions, promoting "soft power". What’s more China should pay more attention on international sports exchanges to promote communication with the whole world. In this article, I put forward the opportunities and challenges that China’s sports diplomacy is facing after Beijing Olympic Games, exploring the future development pattern of China’s Sports diplomacy during "post-Olympictimes".
