An Investigation On Homework For Junior English In Suburbs Of Beijing

English homework is an important part of English teaching and also the supplement of classroom teaching in English Education. Therefore, English assignments should be able to promote students’ development. However, a lot of English teachers in junior high schools always give monotonous, and tiring homework to students which has now harmed English learning:many students hate English homework and even worse, they have come to lose interest in learning English.Here, we try to do some closer researches on present conditions of junior English homework in suburbs of Beijing City, and make some efforts on the innovation in English assignments to the age characteristics of junior middle school students.By investigation with document analysis, questionnaires and case study, this thesis aims to combine theoretical research and teaching practice. For this purpose, the writer adopted two ways in the research:questionnaires and case studies. The questionnaire research was done to students, teachers and parents in four different schools in Daxing District, Beijing; the cases studied are gathered from7different teachers from7different junior middle schools in Daxing, Beijing.With this research, the writer puts the idea:Junior English homework must have its own characteristics. Unique English homework can help improve students’ interests in English learning, guide teachers to cultivate students’abilities in using languages as well as their comprehensive abilities in language practice and innovation. Junior English teachers should strive to design their homework to their own students in suitable forms, contents, difficulty degrees and functions. To achieve this the writer proposes that junior English teachers should design their homework in accordance with four norms:guidance, pertinence, interestingness and Fashionableness.Further on, we’ll do some researches on the evaluation of homework.
