The use of varied homework is a teaching tool that can increase student motivation, and therefore might encourage them to complete homework (Shatzer, 2008). This study examined whether the use of varied homework in a high school algebra class led students to increase homework completion. Triangulation was used in this study to combine one qualitative and two quantitative data collection methods to establish credibility of the data. By using different types of varied homework over a 5-week period, data suggested that student homework completion rate did increase. Results also revealed most students enjoyed completing the homework and believed that they understood the math concepts more clearly. |
