High quality education can effectively improve the comprehensive quality of people, and then promote a healthy and rapid development on political, economic, cultural and other aspects. Teachers’ professional ability is an important factor affecting the quality of education. Because of that, in recent years, China increased investment in teachers, trying to improve the quality of teachers from pre-service and in-service aspects. For example, the free normal system try to improve the pre-service teachers’ quality by improve the barriers of being a normal student and let them accept professional learning and training after entering school, to ensure that they have high professional qualities after graduation and can competent for the job of teachers as soon as possible. The ongoing "national training plan" is a further training and studying opportunity the country provide for in-service teachers, to improve the level of their educational theory, update their teaching concept. In addition, public class is an important form raising the level of in-service teachers’ professional development, Public class can not only make the teacher receive some new teaching concept, and can effectively improve teachers’ class practice ability, it plays an irreplaceable role in improving teachers’professional quality and promote their professional development.The author choose8schools’ teachers from chongqing city and township as research object. Mainly using the research methods of questionnaire and interview, sorting and analyzing the questionnaire data, interview material and related written materials, exploring the public class’ function to teachers’ professional development. The results show that the public class can improve the level of teachers’ professional development; Public class have different influence on different stages of teachers’ professional development; Teachers’ degree will affect the public class’function to teachers’ professional development. Specific performance in:(1)public class can promote the teachers constantly updating their teaching concept;(2)public class can improve the professional skills of teachers;(3)public class can promote the experienced teachers to update their professional theoretical knowledge;(4)public class play an important role in promoting the new teachers’ professional skills. In the process of research, the author also found the current public class still exists the following problems:From the perspective of the main body of class, teachers have no high enthusiasm on public class, especially young teachers and new teachers; From the perspective of the process of class, Public class exists many formalism problems; From the perspective of the result of class, the quality of the public class is uneven. According to the above problems, the author puts forward some suggestions:Education departments clear the assess purpose, perfect the evaluation system; Schools have a correct understanding of public class, establish institutional guarantee system; Teachers ensure the authenticity of the public class, strengthen the consciousness of independent development.
