Textbook column section refers to some modules with functional characteristics, presenting certain kinds of knowledge. And textbooks are written according to the national curriculum standards; also they are the material of teaching implementing. Because of the difference of the curriculum standards among countries and regions, textbook contents are various.Columns are important parts of the textbooks. In this research, we select and analyze three sections, which are redox reactions, electrochemistry, and the basic organic matter in life in the textbooks used in People’s Education Press (PEP) versions, Hanlin and the McGraw-Hill versions, as the carrier of the textbook column. Through the comparative analysis, we are able to get meaningful insights, enriching the contents of textbooks, promoting to realize the functional value of the columns, providing the suggestion in textbook implication and contribute to curriculum revolution. The research is undertaken by the following six steps:In the first step, we propose the research questions and interpret the significance of the research questions both in theory and in practice. In the second step, we analyze the meaning and objectives of the columns in chemistry textbooks of Senior high school in PEP versions, Hanlin and the McGraw-Hill versions,.In the third step, we establish the framework to compare and analyze the three sections of textbooks, in order to basic the comparative analysis theory, which make the conclusions more persuasive. In the fourth step, we analyze the column of the textbooks according to the frame work we have compared. In the fifth step, through the comparative analysis, we provide ideas for teachers’ teaching strategy, and provide guidance to students’learning approach. What’s more, we provide recommendations to the preparation of materials, and promote modest contribution to curriculum reformation.Though the research, we are able to conclude that the variety and the number of McGraw-Hill chemistry textbooks in textbook column are more than columns in PEP textbooks and Hanlin textbooks. The column in McGraw-Hill textbooks have advantages on the designing of column’s content and feature. But each has its own merits.
