In the era of knowledge economy, it has become more and more common to see thephenomenon of cross and infiltration of disciplines and complexity of innovation tasks. So as the main aspect of knowledge innovation, interdisciplinary teams in colleges anduniversities has been taken more and more seriously nowadays. Then how to improveinnovation performance of interdisciplinary teams by knowledge integration mechanismhas always been one of the most important problems in the field of scientific researchmanagement. Exploring the impact of interdisciplinary teams’ knowledge integrationmechanism to innovation performance not only helps to provide a new train of thoughtand theoretical framework for interdisciplinary teams in colleges and universities tofurther realize the required conditions and action mechanism of its efficient developing, and there is no doubt will play a certain realistic guiding role for quickly raise the level ofscientific research innovation in colleges and universities. Firstly, this paper adopts themethods of the related theoretical analysis and literature review to summarize theapplicable to the heterogeneity of knowledge integration mechanism and build the modelof “university interdisciplinary team knowledge integration mechanism impact oninnovation performance”. Secondly, for the purpose of using the127valid questionnairedata collected to verify the effectiveness of the proposed theoretical model and researchhypothesis, this paper using SPSS12.0and AMOS10.0software to have exploratoryfactor analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, path analysis and so on. Then the empirical results are discussed at last. The research results of this paper include:(1) Socializing and cooperative integration mechanisms are suitable for the tacit and high-complexity knowledge; systematic integration mechanism is suitable for the explicitand low-complexity knowledge; but to achieve a full and effective integration, threemechanisms must be used coordinately to both tacit and low-complexity, explicit andhigh-complexity knowledge.(2)There are significant and positive correlations between three dimensions ofknowledge integration (include systematic, socializing and cooperative) and threedimensions of innovation performance (include the results, the behavior and the ability). Then, the predictions that knowledge integration makes to innovation results, innovationbehavior and innovation ability are significant. But in the context of specific dimensions, the predictions that cooperative knowledge integration makes to innovation results, innovation behavior and innovation ability are significantly higher than other dimensionsof knowledge integration, these conclusions make up for the lack of research on thespecific dimensions in the past research.(3)There are significant and positive correlations between three dimensions of teamknowledge creating ability (include organizational knowledge creating ability, technological knowledge creating ability and results of knowledge creating ability) andthree dimensions of innovation performance in interdisciplinary teams in colleges anduniversities (include the results, the behavior and the ability). Specifically, for theinfluences to innovation results and behavior, the influence coefficients of organizationalknowledge creating ability are both the largest, then the influence coefficients oftechnological knowledge creating ability and results of knowledge creating ability areless. While in the perspective of the influences to innovation ability, the influencecoefficient of results of knowledge creating ability is the largest, then the influencecoefficients of organizational knowledge creating ability and technological knowledgecreating ability are less, these conclusions make up for the lack of research on the specificdimensions in the past research too.(4)The impact that knowledge integration mechanism makes on innovationperformance of interdisciplinary teams in colleges and universities is exist, but the directinfluence is not obvious, then team knowledge and team knowledge creating ability canplay an important role. Therefore, team knowledge and team knowledge creating abilityplay an intermediary role between knowledge integration mechanism and team innovation performance. This conclusion makes up for the lack of empirical support in the pastresearch and not putting four variables in the whole model to research.
