Swimming, is the national "national fitness program" in advocacyto promote the main fitness programs, is one of the most popularsports in the21st century，is an essential skill to the survival ofpeople. Swimming to promote people’s physical and mental health，develop body fitness effect is self-evident. Swimming the practicalvalue and set up the training of people the role of the lifelong sportsview is much better than other sports. As the most active one of themost active social groups, college students, more should grasp theskills, so swimming surely become an important subject of sportseducation in colleges and universities.The main purpose of this thesis is to through survey the presentsituation of the Shanxi Province ordinary university swimmingclasses, find and fix problems, to better the development off ShanxiProvince ordinary university’s swimming teaching, make studentsbetter adapt to the life needs, social demand and the demand ofsurvival.Based on the actual situation of China’s sports development andthe construction and the objective need as the starting point, from the status of the opening of swimming course in common colleges anduniversities in Shanxi Province, through the method of documentary,visiting, questionnaire investigation, logical analysis andmathematical statistics and other research way and method,16ordinary universities in Shanxi Province were investigated, and finallydetermine the7has set up a swimming course of common collegesand universities as the research object, the students, teachers andleaders of different levels of visit and questionnaire survey, foundsome problems in the process, and to sum up, and to further explorethe development of effective ways and methods of swimming coursein common colleges and universiites in Shanxi Province, for theShanxi Province ordinary university swimming course setting anddevelopment provide the basis of theory and practice.Results show that:(1) in Shanxi Province ordinary universityswimming class overall opening rate is low; In terms of the open form,sports colleges and non-sports colleges respectively is given priorityto with a compulsory and optional; Teaching content level is not deep,only focus on breaststroke, tread water technology teaching;Teaching methods and means of traditional drab, lack of innovation;For the evaluation seriously the lack of theoretical knowledge,survival skills; Based on security considerations, leadership attachesgreat importance to the low degree of colleges and universities.2swimming class teachers overall younger age structure; Lowqualifications, professional ’title structure, respectively is givenpriority to with graduate student, lecturer，and more than half ofteachers as a professional swimming; Swimming venue constructionstandard differences, overall insufficient per capita equipment facilities.(3) in terms of students*cognitive situation, general likeswimming, looking forward to the commencement of the degree isextremely high, but nearly half of the students lack of mastery ofswimming skills; Sites lack, fear water, difficult technology and so onare the main factors influencing the students1learning; Enhancedphysique, acquisition survival skills is the motivation of students"learning.(4) in terms of teachers’ comprehensive ability evaluation,recognition is higher professional ethics and "security" ability,relatively low for the teaching method and content.Through the above each part of the investigation and studyanalysis, summarized influence factors restricting the developmentof swimming course in common colleges and universities in ShanxiProvince, puts forward effective countermeasures and Suggestions，strive to can objectively reflect the swimming course in commoncolleges and universities in Shanxi Province to carry out the statusquo, hope this research can help the development of Shanxi Provinceordinary university swimming lessons.
