Coordinate system plays a important role in the learning of mathematics in our middle school.It is the foundation of other mathematical knowledge,and links with other knowledge. At present, the development of the case on the HPM has become a key topic of the HPM study. However, the study how to preferably integrate into the history of mathematics in mathematics education research in this area is still in its infancy. The development of our country’s case on the HPM is still immature and imperfect.By collecting and arranging historical materials about the coordinate system, the study analyzes comprehensively some important historical process,the knowledge structure and important thought of mathematics in the development of mathematical history.lt studies teaching situation about coordinate system,hoping to combine the history of mathematics with practical mathematics education,making the historical content practical and effective. So it can improve our teachers’mathematical attainment, mathematical thinking and practical teaching ability.The research focuses on the following works.Firstly, the study gathers about the history of the coordinate system, including Number of axes, Cartesian coordinate system, spatial Cartesian coordinates, polar coordinates, such as the history of the coordinate system.Secondly,this paper forms the educational significance of the coordinate system’s history through historical research.First of all,teachers and students should fully learn mathematicians’persistent and innovational spirit.Then we should pay attention to the process and the nature of mathematical concepts, law and the conclusion. What’s more,we should guide students to develop an appropriate coordinate system.Thirdly, this study investigates the teaching situation about the coordinate system of the status in the high school. There are some purposes in this investigation.The first aim is to understand the degree of difficulty of the coordinate system for students.The second aim is to survey the teaching situation about coordinate history. The final aim is to understand the situation,whether students establish the relationship between Analytic Geometry,Vector and coordinate system. Fourthly,the study forms researcher own teaching recommendations according to the recommendation of HPM teaching case studies, as well as the survey about the teaching situation of coordinate system. Firstly,our teachers should focus on establishing contact between mathematical knowledge.Secondly,our teachers should teach the development process of mathematical knowledge.Finally,we should achieve the cooperation between university teachers and secondary school teachers,and let history and pedagogy of mathematics enter our classroom to achieve win-win situation.In the course of the study, the design of the study is from the theoretical and empirical research.The methods of theoretical research includes educational theory of history-logical approach, analysis and synthesis method and inductive method, empirical study includes questionnaire method.
