A mathematics teacher plays an important role in the mathematics teaching. His teaching lever is a guarantee of mathematics education and the development of mathematics education will be restricted by the localization of his understanding of mathematics. It is a dynamic process for a student to cultivate ability of mathematics thinking, to understand and apply mathematics. The mathematics history shows that it is also a dynamic and vivid process for humans to understand mathematics. It also can provide the students a thinking clue in learning mathematics. Mathematics educators and teachers at home and abroad attach great importance to using lifesome examples in the mathematics history to enlighten and cultivate the thinking ability of the students. Therefore the study tries to discuss the function of mathematics history to mathematics teachers through questionnaires and interviews, and provide suggestions to the teaching development.Based on the questionnaires and interviews, the study has concluded their approaches and measures to improve their mathematics teaching through mathematics history. It is very important approaches for teachers to reflect their teaching experience, read professional documents and communicate with their colleagues. It is also fairly important to take part in organized professional activities and in-service training, while other approaches do not seem so important. As for the second question, we have concluded the conclusion that teachers in junior and senior high schools apply different methods according to the teaching materials. Teachers in junior high schools excited students' interest in learning mathematics by materials of mathematics history. While teachers in senior high schools guide the students to learn mathematics by thinking methods in the materials of mathematics history. We also have reached other conclusions:(1) Problem-solving learning guideTeachers not only introduces the most polished consequence methods but also let themselves DIY. Add historical data to the teaching materials if necessary. All kinds of activities, such as model-making, survey, reading and discuss the selected mathematics historical materials, can make the learning lives more colorful.(2)Emotional learning guideWe used to attach too much importance to impart knowledge and cultivate skill. We often neglect emotional factors. We should display all-sided mathematics in teaching so that students will understand mathematics in an all-around way. They will know that mathematics is an theoretical and emotional subject. This can exert the profound influence on the formation of the students' view on mathematics. As for the teachers, the study tries to illuminate that the teachers are life-long learners in order to make their teaching more effective. In pursuit of their professional development, the teachers should reflect frequently, be good at accumulating, be ready to communicate with others and be heedful.Reflecting frequently means that the teachers should reflect their teaching practice consciously and carefully.Being good at accumulating means the teachers need to build their repository of mathematics history gradually. It is very important for them to develop their teaching skills (mathematical expressions).Being ready to communicate with others means the teachers should often communicate with their colleagues. From the study we can see that this kind of activity is one of the main ways to develop their teaching knowledge. The teachers can obtain knowledge of mathematical expressions, methods, teaching strategies, etc.Being heedful means the teachers should become active learners with open mind.
