The Studies Of Yu Jiaju’s Normal Education Theories

Yu Jiaju is an influential educator in modern Chinese history. Due to various reasons, the public does not have adequate knowledge about Mr. Yu and his contributions Normal education theories is an important component of Yu Jiaju’s educational theories system, which is mainly reflected in his book Normal Education.This thesis attempts to analyze the formation and contents of his theories, so as to get a more comprehensive, systematic understanding of his normal education theories, evaluating more objectively and gain some inspirations.Three chapters are included in this thesis.The first chapter intends to narrate the formation process of Yu Jiaju’s normal education theories. Firstly, combining the general definition and Yu’s opinions to define the concept of normal education. Then the thesis sums up three aspects contributing to the formation process:social background and education conditions, personal experiences of learning and practice, and theoretical origins.The second chapter illustrates the contents of Yu Jiaju’s normal education theories. This chapter analyzes from three perspectives, namely:the importance of normal education, the administration management system of normal schools and the training system of normal school students.The third chapter is about the comments and enlightenment of Yu Jiaju’s normal education theories. Starting with some specific proposals, such as teachers’certification system, double tutor system to discuss the impacts on today’s normal education. Running of schools, training of normal school students, students’ internship, training of teachers in countryside, teachers’certification and developments are also involed.
