The increasingly progress in science, technology and economy promotes the various types of digital cameras, computers and other digital products, which brings tremendous convenience in working, studying and life for the declining price. With deepening of curriculum reform, lots of new demands on English teaching in primary schools are proposed. One of major tasks for elementary school English teachers is to inspire students’interest in English learning and to cultivate their ability to use the English language. Furthermore, digital storytelling as a teaching method has been intensively researched and extensively applied. Based on the Situational Learning theory, the thesis has illustrated the characteristics in digital story telling and the basic features in English teaching in primary school. In the end, it inspects the teaching methods in order to discovering the merits and demerits.Initially, the thesis defines and expounds digital stories compiled and situation teaching of children English story by means of literature researching. Additionally, the author develops a sample lesson of digital English story and applies it in Jingguilu Primary School in Yuhua District. After the experiment are accomplished, investigation and questionnaire survey are used to obtain students’and teachers’feedback and reasonable suggestion on the experimental lessons using digital storytelling.From the feedback, it is concluded that learning English with digital stories is welcomed by the students, and supported by the school leaders and teachers. The integration of primary school English teaching and digital storytelling is conducive to spark students’interest in English learning and hold their enthusiasm as well as improve their capability of English listening, oral communication and writing. Meanwhile, it is instrumental in enhancing students’comprehension, information processing and memory ability. However, with the integration f primary school English teaching and digital storytelling, problems remain to be solved. According to the experimental teaching, the author has done detailed analysis and presents some suggestions at the end of this thesis.
