For thousands of years, rumors have been communicational phenomenon troubling the community because of its ability to cause social panic and its harm to the society. Before the appearance of the mass media, rumors transmit interpersonally. After the popularization of mass media, rumors transmit through mass media, which improve the speed of spread and expand both the influence and the scope. Today, as the time of network and information, this characteristic came to a head.Micro blog rumors, refers to the network interconnection equipment as the terminal media, micro blog as transmission platform, network spread after being confirmed by micro blog message or comment for the false information.Since micro blog rumors do not have a specific audience, every user may spread the rumors in his or her circle of friends, which makes the users both the receiver and the spreader of the rumors. Based on this characteristic, rumors on the micro blog platform can easily produce instant outbreak of viral transmission spread."The development of Chinese new media report (2013)" indicates that till January2013, the population of Chinese micro blog users has reached93.87million and students have become the biggest crowd of the micro blog users. Among the student users, college students is worth watching because their behaviors and thoughts tend to be more social with the characteristic, of which self-consciousness gradually enhanced but development is not mature and emotional mood is increasingly rich but volatile. Additionally, the college students are in the important term of building life and value formation, Micro blog rumors can not only affect college students through the emotional consciousness to influence their behavior, to a certain extent, micro blog rumors can even affect college students’ cognition to the society as a whole.The paper’s titled research university students as the research object, colleges and universities in Hefei area as an example, adopt the method of combination of questionnaire and interview, the college students in the face of micro blog rumors cognition and behavior. Among them, the cognitive status including college students group’s trust in the micro blog rumors, the origin of micro blog rumors and spread of cognition; Behavior includes students groups in micro blog on participation in the process of the spread of rumors, in the face of micro blog rumors by use of behavior, and may take actions after contact micro blog rumors.Micro blog rumors have always use the important social and public events as the background, Spread rapidly in a wide range of the world. Micro blog rumors have some characteristics such as its latent period is short, broke out instantly, the self-purification mechanism, and cannot usually last long. Face on the micro blog rumors, college students can be act as the rumor message recipients, and at the same time, they tack an positive role in the spread of micro blog rumors. Dose the college students have the ability to tell which micro blog is true and which micro blog is right? What the college students will do after they touch the micro blog rumors? These questions are the topic of this paper.The paper consists of three parts, including introduction, main body and conclusion. In the introduction part, basic background, and the scope of study will be discussed. At the same time, this chapter also introduces the purpose and the value of this study. The first chapter mainly discusses the micro blog rumors and its characteristic, through analyzing the characteristics of traditional rumors, combined with the typical cases of micro blog rumors, micro blog rumors are defined for this study, and combined with case analysis of the new characteristics different from traditional rumors, provide theoretical support for the following analysis. The second chapter is an introduction of the main research method in this paper. This chapter summarizes the questionnaire through the sample selection, questionnaire design and questionnaire distribution and recovery situation. The third chapter is data statistics, based on the questionnaire survey and data, from micro blog contact and conditions of college students who use micro blog, college students group’s trust in the micro blog information, students groups concerned about the official micro blog degree, college students group in micro blog students groups on micro blog rumors and spread the cause of the cognitive and students groups interact with micro blog rumors of five aspects comprehensive study college students’ cognition and behavior status of micro blog rumors. The forth chapter try to analyze the cause comprehensively through students groups, micro blog rumors itself and the social environment. The fifth chapter station try to give some useful measures to improve the in college students’ media literacy in micro blog rumors through three aspects. At last, in conclusion, the writer summarizes the general article as well as points out the deficiency of the paper.Through the investigation and analysis, this paper found that college students more recognition was the attitude of the credibility of the micro blog information, but at the same time, compared to the official micro blog, students groups more interested by unofficial micro blog channel to obtain information, in the micro blog platform, enterprise authenticated user in college students is not match the authority of the trust. At the same time, students groups on micro blog rumors and spread knowledge remains to be further strengthened, the cause of college students is not only the information receiver of micro blog rumors, to a certain extent, is also a micro blog rumors, they are not only influenced by micro blog rumors, in the process of the spread of micro blog rumors also play a role.
