With the Sunshine Sports Campaign in its full swing all over China, its de velopment has drawn more and more attention from all walks of life. As a key part of this campaign, the Sunshine Large Recess Activity is particul arly eye-catching. In this paper, a primary school in a less developed area is selected for study, and its persistence of Sunshine Large Recess Activit y for7years has provided a solid foundation for this study. This paper att empts to restore the7-year course of this activity in this school, analyze t he factors influencing its long-term operation, and reflect on the develop ment of it.With a case study as its entry point, this paper adopts the qualitative resea rch methodology paradigm, in which methods of observation and in-dept h interview, etc. are combined to describe the details in implementing Sun shine Large Recess Activity in Red Star Primary School of Huaihua City. First, original resources are collected, registered, arranged, read, encoded, and extracted, so that factors for the long-effect operation of this activity in that school are analyzed from the bottom up and eventually summarize d into two categories:internal factors and external factors. To be more spe cific, internal factors include the schooling philosophy of the school presi dent, faculties, students’own features, content of Large Recess Activity, h ardware, establishment of relevant system and the school culture atmosph ere, while external factors include local school entrance system, social att ention and parents. After studying the implementation of Large Recess Ac tivity in Red Star School, this paper arrives at the following conclusions a nd inspirations:1) despite its insufficient funds, the management of Red S tar School is willing to invest in this activity; as a result, it proves that eve n in this less developed area, this activity can still bloom and benefit child ren;2) the positive changes in the participant students in this activity can be the best evidence for the supportive attitude toward the activity;3) the willingness to devote into this activity may matter more than a large num ber of teachers and resources;4) the teaching idea of school president ofte n decides the orientation of school’s development. The effectiveness of i mplementing sports activities depends on the importance that the presiden t attaches to this program.
