| Since the reform and opening up,the obvious development differences between urban and rural areas have led to the migration of population between urban and rural areas, and China’s urbanization process has advanced by leaps and bounds. In recent years, the central government has begun to emphasize the concept of "people-oriented urbanization".Its main purpose is to achieve stable urban development by promoting rural residents to flow into cities and settle in the areas where they flow in.However, there are large differences in objective factors such as housing prices, economic levels, and infrastructure between different cities, which causes the floating population to go back and forth between rural and urban, urban and urban.Today, with the gradual decrease in the number of working population, obtaining effective human capital is an important guarantee for the city to gain competitiveness for a long time in the future. Therefore,it is of great significance to explore what kind of urban characteristics are attracting migrants to migrate and settle for a long time. This paper takes 17 first-tier cities and new first-tier cities as the research object, focusing on the settlement intention for a long time of inter-city floating population with stronger human capital, using statistical analysis and Hierarchical Linear Model to investigate the settlement intention of urban-urban floating population from the city level and individual level respectively, and explore the urban characteristics that affect the settlement intention of such groups based on important theories such as push-pull theory and micro-migration theory. The main findings are as follows:First of all,the difference between cities is an important factor for the difference in the settlement intention of urban-urban floating population.8.17% of the settlement intention of urban-urban floating population in first-tier cities and new first-tier cities is caused by the difference in cities.Secondly, housing pressure, basic education resources, economic environment, and urban natural environment can all significantly affect the urban-urban floating population’s settlement intention for a long time, and the positive influence of basic education resources can offset the negative influence of housing pressure. Finally, this paper analyzes the interaction between urban characteristics and personal characteristics, and finds that urban characteristics can adjust the influence of personal characteristics on settlement intention.Among them, the housing pressure indicator can weaken the impact of the four indicators of gender, marital status, current migration time and foreign migration time on the intercity floating population’s settlement intention;basic education indicators can strengthen the four indicators of the marital status, working income, current migration time and social network on the intercity floating population’s settlement intention;public policy indicators can weaken the work industry and the time of migration on the intercity floating population’s settlement intention;economic and environmental indicators will weaken the marital status, work industry,The five indicators of work income, current migration time, and migration time abroad on the inter-city floating population’s settlement intention, and strengthen the social network on the intercity floating population’s settlement intention. This study enriches the theories of migration behavior in existing studies and makes up for the shortcomings of the current research on floating population. The results of this research will provide a reference for optimizing urban management and retaining population resources for a long time.At the same time, the paper concludes that the key factors influencing settlement intention at the city level can provide a corresponding basis for subsequent research. |
